Envoys to GCC countries, Iran brief PM Shehbaz about challenges and opportunities

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Monday chaired an important meeting of Pakistani ambassadors posted in Iran and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries to review bilateral relations, economic diplomacy and regional developments.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Minister for Economic Affairs Ahad Khan Cheema, Adviser to the Prime Minister Syed Tauqeer Shah, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Syed Tariq Fatemi and Foreign Secretary Amina Baloch.

During the meeting, Pakistani envoys briefed the prime minister on the current state of bilateral ties with their respective host countries, along with emerging opportunities and challenges.

Detailed discussions were held on enhancing economic diplomacy, promoting trade and investment cooperation, increasing remittances and addressing matters concerning the Pakistani diaspora living in Gulf countries and Iran.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif emphasized the historical, economic and strategic importance of the GCC countries and Iran in Pakistan’s foreign policy framework. He directed ambassadors to play a proactive role in strengthening bilateral cooperation in key sectors including trade, investment, energy and people-to-people contacts.

The meeting also reviewed the evolving regional and international situation, with participants stressing the importance of promoting peace, stability and economic cooperation across the region.

The prime minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to expanding Pakistan’s economic and diplomatic engagement with friendly countries in the Gulf region and beyond.
