Despite the notice taken by Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, the authorities concerned have been unable to find the 22 missing vehicles of the Sindh government, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Wednesday.

But it didn’t stop there as the official record of these vehicles of different Corolla models ranging from 2001 to 2011 has also vanished – an episode that took place during the tenure of the then transport officer Mirza Muhammad Amir Beg. He was appointed to this post on deputation from the Benevolent Fund Board.

Although the officials have failed to trace out the current location, 24NewsHD has the details of both the vehicles and their users which shows it was former MNA Shagufta Jumani who started using Corolla 2008 model with registration number GS 9547 in 2008.

Similarly, GS 2967 – another Corolla but of 2007 model – wasn’t returned to the government. It had been in the use of former MPA late Shehnaz Begum Ansari who was assassinated earlier this year over a land dispute.

On the other hand, two other Corollas GS 7066 and GS 7017 (2002 model) were acquired by Kulsoom Chandio MPA and former law secretary Syed Ghulam Babi Shah respectively.

There is another even more interesting case involving a retired bureaucrat Raees-ud-Din Piracha who still has two official Corolla cars – GS 7455 (2001 model) and GS 7005  (2002 model).

Meanwhile, retired secretary Mumtaz-ur-Rehman hasn’t returned GS 4926 (2001 model Corolla) while another former official Syed Muhammad Ali Shah still possessed GS 9984 – a 2008 Corolla. The same is the case with GS 7605 (2005 Corolla) which was last allocated to Gul Hassan Channa – a retired civil servant.

Details of the remaining cars and the persons to whom these were allotted are given below:

Former senator Almas Parveen GS 072 (2011 Corolla), former human rights secretary Tanveer Qureshi GS 6930 (2010 Corolla), Information Department Secretary Nadeem Jafri GS 7308 (2002 Corolla), former official Jamal Mustafa Qazi GS 7158 (2003 Corolla), ex-consultant Sikandar Ahmed GS 7278 (2009 Corolla), former adviser Muhammad Khan Junejo GS 099 (2011 Corolla).

Former Adviser Javed Ahmed Shah Hashmi GS 9983 (2008 Corolla), former coordinator Ahsan Raza Jafri GS 7320, ex-special assistant Noor Jahan Baloch GS 9890 (Corolla 2008), retired official Uzma Ismail GS 7132 (Corolla 2010), former adviser Asghar Ali Junejo GS 098 (Corolla 2011).

And the last name on this list is of GDA leader Irfanullah Marwat who previously served as education minister. He hasn’t returned a 2002 model Corolla GS 7058 back to the in the Services, General Administration, Coordination Department (SGA&CD).
