Bunkering service launched at Karachi Port after first-ever licence issued

Pakistan has issued history’s first bunkering licence and the bunkering service of international standard has been launched at the Karachi Port, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

On the directives of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, bunkering service of international standard were started at Karachi port, for which a number of international companies have expressed interest for licence.

Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Junaid Anwar Chaudhary said that Pakistan will generate billions of rupees through port operations in future. He said that now ships will be able to get fuel of international standards here.

Junaid Anwar Chaudhry said that bunkering of international repute will pave the way for Karachi Port to become an internationally recognized port.

He said that bunkering operations generate valuable foreign exchange.

On the other hand, Ammar Hussaini, of Vitol Bunkers, expressed pride in the partnership, stating, “We are delighted to be partnering with Cnergyico on this milestone for Pakistan. Our global network of bunkering locations continues to expand, offering our customers greater flexibility and energy supply options.”

The Marine Ista, capable of supplying up to 6,800MT of marine fuel in a single delivery, will serve new bunkering locations in Karachi Port, Port Qasim, and Karachi Anchorage. These locations will support the growing demand for sustainable fuel solutions in the global shipping industry.
