Irregularities worth Rs1.57b in Sindh Police’s uniform funds unearthed

Large-scale irregularities worth Rs1.57 billion were unearthed in the funds allocated for the purchase of Sindh Police uniforms, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday.   

In the report of Auditor General of Pakistan, it was revealed that IG Sindh office did illegal things and those responsible should be identified.

Text of report said police uniform procurement rules were repeatedly violated in 2023-24 and the procurement plan and bidding details were not uploaded on the website.

Only people from the police department were included in the procurement committee, text of report revealed.

According to the rules, other departments are also included in the procurement committee, report further revealed.

According to the rules, NOC was mandatory from the jail authorities but NOC was not taken from the jail authorities, report revealed.

Report revealed that illegal route was taken in the purchase of uniforms and clothes and sales tax was not deducted on bills which is unnecessarily wastage of public exchequer. 

Mismanagement is clearly visible in the purchase of police uniforms and in October 2024, this matter was reported, report revealed.

Report further revealed that no response was received from the IG Sindh office.

Responsible persons should be identified and action should be taken, Auditor General's report recommended.

Audit report has been received by the Public Accounts Committee of the Sindh Assembly.
