Multan Sultans' Ali Tareen criticizes PSL structure, warns of franchise collapse

Ali Tareen, owner of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise Multan Sultans, has expressed disappointment over his experience with the league, 24NewsHD TV reported on Tuesday.

“I am a sportsman, but PSL has been a bad experience for me,” he remarked, highlighting the imbalance between the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and the franchises.

Tareen criticized the PSL’s financial structure, saying it was unfair for the board to profit while franchises struggled.

“It should not happen that boards make money while teams suffer.

If new franchises are sold at high prices, they too will fail to survive,” he warned.

The Multan Sultans’ owner cautioned that if franchises start folding, it would spell disaster for the PSL.

“If teams begin to reduce in number, it will be catastrophic for the league,” he said, urging reforms to ensure sustainability.

Tareen also revealed that franchises were considering legal action if the PCB and PSL management failed to engage with them.

“If PSL and PCB do not communicate with us, we have legal options available,” he stated, signaling growing tensions between franchise owners and the board.
