WhatsApp is working on an interesting feature that will later reach users who use the desktop version of WhatsApp in beta. It is about the possibility of converting the images sent into stickers.

Discovered by WABetaInfo, the idea is that users only have to press the button in the form of a sticker that they will find in the drafting field so that, once they choose the image to send, it automatically becomes a sticker inside of the conversation they are having.

It is surprising that such a function is being developed to reach the desktop version of WhatsApp, when the normal thing is that the news will reach the mobile versions. But it is also true that in one of its main rivals, Signal, the possibility of converting images into stickers is only available in the desktop application of this messaging application.

As they said, it is a function that is in development, and therefore, at the moment it is not available even for users of the beta version. It is expected that this feature will reach the beta version later and then move to the stable version.

Perhaps we are facing a case in which the messaging platform, owned by Facebook Inc, wants to encourage the use of WhatsApp on the desktop, a change of course that would be surprising.

In any case, with the advent of this feature, the use of third-party applications to create stickers would no longer be necessary in principle. Little by little, WhatsApp has creative capabilities that make it less and less dependent on other applications.

What we do not know for now is whether it will allow creating individual stickers based on sent images or also creating complete packages of stickers. You will have to be patient enough to discover everything that you can allow, or if it is a starting point that will be expanded over time with new possibilities.

Users on stable iOS version receive multi-device support

WhatsApp has reportedly started rolling out the multi-device feature on the stable iOS version of the app.

Users on the latest 2.21.180.14 version of WhatsApp for iOS who have enrolled in the beta program will now get a multi-device prompt under the Linked Devices section within Settings, reports GSMArena.

With the multi-device support, you do not have to keep your phone online. To enable multi-device beta on iOS, update to the latest version from App Store and select the multi-device prompt from Linked Devices section. Now, scan a QR code with your phone just like on WhatsApp Web.

In addition, WhatsApp has also started testing a new in-app business directory feature to let users find local shops and services on the app in Brazil.

Currently, the feature is undergoing the testing phase in Sao Paulo and the company is looking to soon expand the feature to users in India and Indonesia.

The test would include thousands of businesses in categories like food, retail, and local services across certain Sao Paulo neighbourhoods.

Facebook acquired WhatsApp in 2014 in a deal worth $19 billion but the platform did not have a model to monetise its millions of daily active users. The company is now looking at different ways to generate revenue but has not ruled out in-app advertisements.–voonze.com/telecom.com
