No let-up in dengue cases across Pakistan

There is no let-up in the number of dengue cases in Pakistan as Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad reported hundreds of more patients during the last 24 hours, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Sunday.
According to the district health offices of these cities, 480 dengue cases have been reported in last 24 hours taking the season’s tally to 5,361.
As many as 96 new cases of dengue were brought to the hospitals in Islamabad taking the toll to 1,331 in the Capital territory. Simultaneously, 60 new dengue cases emerged in Lahore whereas Karachi reported the highest number of 324 cases in a single day.
The number of dengue cases has been doubled in just 24 hours making the situation alarming as per data. At least15 patients have lost their lives so far due to this virus.
Health experts believe that the current number of dengue fever cases are five times higher than what is being reported by the health department.
The Sindh Health Department has issued an alert and appealed citizens to donate blood in the wake of ongoing situation. Meanwhile, the High Dependency Units (HDUs) established for Corona, have been converted into Isolation Ward for dengue patients.
Medical experts also advised the citizens to take all preventive measure and wear full sleeves and to carry out fumigation sprays in their houses to prevent mosquitoes, keep the doors and windows closed and drain out the stagnant water on priority basis.
In the meantime, the authorities are asked to eliminate dengue larvae.
To make the situation worst amid dengue epidemic, fever medicine has been vanished from the market, exacerbating the sufferings of patients and their families.
