The All Pakistan Textile Mills Association (APTMA) has proposed Rs8,000 per 40kg cotton support price, 24NewsHD TV channel reported Tuesday. 

The support price will help bring betterment to farmers’ life and that will lead to an increase in the production of cotton. 

The support price of cotton has been proposed according to the international market.

In a related development, the lawmakers have laid stress on paying heed to the field of agriculture – the backbone of the country’s economy – in the National Assembly session.

Rao Muhammad Ajmal laid stress on taking steps to devise a compressive strategy to cope with the wheat crisis. The issue of power cuts in rural areas was too raised during the session of the lower house.

The parliamentarians also raised the demand for addressing the issue of urea shortage and exorbitant prices of agricultural inputs.

MNA Afzal said if attention is not paid to the sector, the farmer will die. He stressed that gram growers should be provided with special relief.
