National Marathon and Cycling Race gets colourful start in Lahore


The National Marathon and Cycling Race got a colourful start in Lahore early morning at 6 am from Liberty Roundabout, reported the 24NewsHD TV channel on Sunday.
Provincial Sports Minister Faisal Ayub Khokhar inaugurated the cycling race by riding a bicycle.
The race included a 21 km half marathon, a 5 km race and a family fun run.
A wheelchair race also became part of the marathon event.
Thousands of people participated in the marathon on the streets of Lahore.
A large number of youths were among the participants of the marathon and cycling race. 
In the 21 km men's cycling race, Ali Ilyas from Karachi stood first while Lahore's Aqib Shah won the second position and KPK's Sanaullah won the third position.
In the 5 km women's cycling race, all three positions were won by women from Karachi.
Zainab from Karachi won the first position, while Anisa won the second position and Rabi won the third position.
In the one-kilometre wheelchair race, Ahmed Yar from Multan won the first position, while Zahid Nazir from Lahore won the second position and Nawaz Rashid from Lahore won the third position.
Among the first three positions in the marathon 21-kilometre race, Muhammad Akhtar won the first position, M Aamir won the second position and M Irfan won the third position.
