Thai Consulate marks Songkran festival in Karachi with cultural showcase

The Thai Consulate in Karachi hosted a vibrant celebration of Songkran Festival, offering a glimpse into Thailand’s rich cultural heritage and traditions while fostering closer cultural ties with Pakistan, 24NewsHD TV reported on Sunday.

The event showcased the beauty of Thai culture through traditional elements, while an array of authentic Thai cuisine added to the festive atmosphere and delighted attendees.

The ceremony was presided over by the Consul General Kingdom Of Thailand Surashete Boontinand, who highlighted in his address that the purpose of celebrating Songkran in Karachi is to introduce and connect the people of Karachi with the unique charm and cultural significance of this traditional Thai festival.

The event was attended by several distinguished diplomatic representatives, including the Consul General of Oman, Engr. Sami Abdullah Al Khanjari; Consul General of France, Alexi Shah Takhtinsky; UAE representative Abdullah Al Mehri; British Deputy Head of Mission Tom Berg; Consul General of Japan, Hattori Masaru; Consul General of Malaysia, Harman Hardinata Ahmad; Consul General of Bangladesh, Saqib Sadaqat; Honorary Consul General of Ivory Coast, Fazal Karim Dada Bhai; Honorary Consul General of Morocco, Mirza Ishtiaq Baig; and Honorary Consul General of Ethiopia, Ibrahim Tawab, along with representatives from Bahrain, Qatar, and other countries.

The Songkran Festival celebration served as a platform to strengthen cultural ties and promote mutual understanding between Thailand and Pakistan, reflecting the spirit of friendship and international cooperation.
