PM Shehbaz inaugurates anti-polio drive in country

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said on Friday that polio was not only a crippling but also a life-taking disease, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The prime minister kicked off anti-polio drive by administering drops of polio vaccine to the children under five years of age at the Prime Minister House, Islamabad.
Addressing on the occasion, PM Shehbaz said it was unfortunate that while on one hand other countries of the world had got rid of the disease, it had resurfaced in some parts of Pakistan. “But we are determined to make the future of our children secure by eliminating polio virus from the country,” he vowed, and added that in this connection the federal government was collaborating with the provincial governments.
The prime minister urged the parents to get their children, under five years of age, administered polio drops. “
PM Shehbaz said that in this regard he was thankful to Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah and Federal Minister for Health Abdul Qadir Patel. “I also salute the Pakistan Army officers who have always been helpful in making the anti-polio drive successful,” he added.
Earlier, the prime minister administered polio drops to the children to mark beginning of the campaign.
The prime minister called upon the federal, provincial and district managements to address the challenges of persistently missed children and also encourage the people by raising awareness about the gravity of the situation.
