Dense fog disrupts flight operations at Sialkot International Airport
Dense fog has engulfed Sialkot city and its surrounding areas, reducing visibility to extremely low levels and partially affecting flight operations at Sialkot International Airport, officials said Friday.
According to airport spokesperson Muhammad Umair Khan, the intensity of fog increased in the evening, leading to disruptions in flight schedules and operations.
He said a minimum visibility of 500 metres is required for the safe operation of flights at Sialkot International Airport.
“At present, visibility at the airport has dropped to around 100 metres,” the spokesperson said, adding that flight operations would resume according to schedule once weather conditions improve and the fog intensity decreases.
The airport administration remains in contact with all airlines to manage the situation, he said. Passengers have been advised to contact their respective airlines for the latest updates regarding their flights.
Authorities urged travellers to remain cautious and plan their journeys accordingly until visibility improves.
