Lahore–Sialkot Motorway closed as dense fog reduces visibility

The Lahore–Sialkot Motorway (M11 Motorway) has been temporarily closed due to dense fog, according to the Motorway Police Central Region, as visibility dropped to unsafe levels in several areas.

Syed Imran Ahmed, spokesperson for the Motorway Police Central Region, said the decision to close the motorway was taken to protect the lives and property of road users. He warned that lane violations during foggy conditions can lead to serious and sometimes fatal accidents.

The Motorway Police advised drivers to strictly follow lane discipline and avoid unnecessary travel during fog. Motorists have been urged to prefer travel during daylight hours, noting that safer travel times in foggy conditions are generally between 10:00 am and 6:00 pm.

Drivers were also instructed to use fog lights, avoid speeding, and maintain a safe distance from the vehicle ahead to reduce the risk of collisions. In case of emergencies or for travel guidance, road users have been advised to contact the Motorway Police helpline at 130.

Authorities have urged the public to remain cautious and cooperate with traffic advisories until weather conditions improve.
