Facebook to delete live videos after 30 days in major update

Facebook has announced a significant change to its live video feature, affecting users who frequently stream content on the platform.

As of February 19, all live videos will now be automatically deleted after 30 days, marking a departure from the previous policy, where such videos remained stored indefinitely.

The company stated that any live videos older than 30 days will also be removed from users' accounts. However, affected users will receive notifications and a 90-day window to save, download, or transfer their videos before deletion. Facebook has also introduced new tools to help users download old live videos, transfer them to cloud storage, or convert them into reels.

In a blog post, the company explained that this update aims to provide a more up-to-date live video experience, though it did not elaborate on the reason for the sudden policy shift.
