The federal government has extended the tenure of Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) President Professor Rizwan Taj by one year, reported 24NewsHD TV channel. 

In this regard, after the approval of the Prime Minister, the Ministry of National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination issued an official notification on Thursday. 

According to the notification, the current term of the President of the PMDC was to end on April 10, 2026, but he has been extended about 2 months before the end of the term. 

The circular states that the new appointment of Professor Dr. Rizwan Taj will be effective from April 14, 2026 and he will continue as the President of the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council until April 10, 2027. 

According to sources, the decision to extend has been taken with a view to maintaining administrative continuity in the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council.
