12,500 school teacher interns face financial strain as salary issue persists 

As many as 12,500 school teacher interns across the province are facing serious financial difficulties, despite the extension of their contracts, due to ongoing delays in salary payments, reported 24NewsHD TV channel Monday.

Sources in the School Education Department said that around 1,500 teachers posted in government schools have not received their salaries for the past two months, worsening their financial situation.

The delay has been attributed to the department’s failure to take a final decision on the method of salary disbursement. Officials have yet to decide whether salaries should be paid directly through bank accounts or via an alternative mechanism.

According to sources, the School Education Department spent nearly two months deliberating over the payment method, further prolonging the issue.

Sources said the department is now likely to release salaries through a vendor account, though an official notification in this regard has yet to be issued.

Affected teacher interns have expressed concern over the prolonged delay and have urged the authorities to resolve the matter at the earliest to ease their financial hardship.
