Pakistan and China agree to boost livestock and halal meat exports

Pakistan and China have agreed to strengthen cooperation in the livestock sector and expand halal meat exports, the 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Sunday.

According to the report, this was decided in a high-level meeting between a Chinese delegation and Federal Minister for National Food Security and Research Rana Tanveer Hussain. 

During the meeting, representatives from both countries agreed on a series of joint measures aimed at increasing meat exports and promoting the development of Pakistan's livestock industry.

The initiative forms part of broader efforts to modernise the sector and improve its contribution to the national economy.

Under the proposed cooperation, Pakistan will encourage the establishment of modern slaughterhouses, advanced meat processing facilities and improved export infrastructure.

The country will also enhance the use of modern technology, cold chain systems and product traceability to increase exports of high-quality halal meat to China.

Addressing the meeting, Rana Tanveer Hussain said Pakistan possesses extensive livestock resources and has the capacity to produce premium-quality halal meat for international markets. 

He added that the livestock sector plays a significant role in the agricultural economy by supporting value addition, creating rural employment and contributing to the country's gross domestic product.

Members of the Chinese delegation praised Pakistan's livestock potential and expressed interest in cooperating on meat processing, technology transfer and the development of export infrastructure.

Both sides agreed that closer collaboration would help unlock new opportunities for trade and investment.
