PIA Chairman Aslam R Khan passes away in Karachi
Chairman of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) Board of Directors Aslam R Khan breathed his last in Karachi on Friday, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Aslam R Khan was considered the father of the organization. He played a vital role in the reorganization and conversion of the PIA into a profitable organization.
He possessed the quality to make difficult decisions on time. He also participated in various welfare projects.
In his condolence message, the Chief Executive Officer of Pakistan International Airlines termed the death of Aslam R. Khan a great loss to the organization.
The CEO said that the entire PIA management is saddened by the sudden and sad demise of Aslam R. Khan.
He prayed to Almighty Allah to rest the departed soul in eternal peace and grant courage to the bereaved family to bear this loss.
His funeral prayers will be offered at his residence in Khayaban-e-Ghazi in Karachi after Juma prayers.
Aslam R Khan was a nominated Director and Chairman PIACL Board since March 22, 2024. He was a corporate aviation veteran with over three decades of multi-faceted airline experience.
He started his career with Lufthansa and then moved to PIACL. In the National Carrier, he held senior positions both in Pakistan and abroad. He held the important positions of Managing Director of PIA and Chairman PIACL Board as well.
He also remained the Managing Director of PIA Investments Limited for 14 years, with the achievement of 700 Million Dollars successful turnaround of the Roosevelt Hotel in New York City, transforming it into a highly profitable asset.
A keen sportsman and an avid golfer, he was the President of the Sindh Golf Association and Vice President of the Pakistan Golf Federation.
Aslam R Khan is also the recipient of the Italian Civil award "CAVALIERE".
