The Supreme Court has issued notice to political parties on the Sindh House attack incident in Islamabad saying it was a deplorable act, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

The political parties which were put on notice by the apex court included Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf, People’s Party and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam.

While giving his remarks, Chief Justice of Pakistan Umar Ata Bandial on Saturday said that what he learnt from media reports about what happened in the Sindh House, was not good. He summoned report of the incident from Islamabad IG police.

However, the chief justice said that the apex court would not interfere in the no-confidence motion nor did it meddle in the political process.

The court will hear the case according to the law, the CJP remarked while reiterating that it was quite awful that an incident of such nature occurred at the premises of Sindh House.

The chief justice wondered if bail could be granted to those who attacked a public property. The justice remarked that the public property and national institutions received threats and their members and institutions should be provided security according to the constitution.

“It’s not the duty of the Supreme Court to look into the law and order. The apex court is custodian of the constitution. It will look into the legal affairs. The court has a great regard for parliamentarians and Supreme Court Bar Association. It hopes that political parties will display patience,” the chief justice stressed.

A two-judge bench of the apex court headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Umar Ata Bandial was hearing a petition filed by the SCBA urging court to direct both the government and the opposition to remain peaceful during the course of the no-confidence motion.

During the hearing, CJP Bandial clarified that the court did not take suo motu notice of the Sindh House attack, rather it was hearing the SCB petition seeking maintenance of law and order during the no-trust move.

Justice Bandial inquired from Attorney General of Pakistan Khalid Jawed Khan if the government was also bringing some reference. On which the AGP replied in affirmative saying that the government had decided to file a reference in the apex court for the interpretation of Article 63-A. He said the government would file the presidential reference by Monday.

After this, the court adjourned the hearing till Monday, also seeking a report from Islamabad IG about the attack.

Earlier on Saturday, PTI workers who protested against the ‘disgruntled’ party MNAs and stormed the Sindh House in Islamabad, had been released on personal assurance.

The Islamabad Capital Territory Police had registered an FIR against the PTI workers for violating Section 144 imposed in the federal capital and also included sections for vandalizing the government property.

The workers were produced before the area magistrate, who granted them bail on the personal assurance.

Mandokhel says attack on Sindh House is attack on Sindh

Meanwhile, talking to media outside the Sindh House, PPP leader Abdul Qadir Mandokhel said that attack on Sindh House was an attack on Sindh.

He rued that at the time of PTI workers’ assault on the house, police watched the whole episode like a silent spectator. He alleged that police did not take action at the behest of Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid. He demanded that a case be registered against the prime minister and federal ministers.

He said everybody saw how the PTI attackers broke open the doors of the Sindh House and entered the premises and used swearing and incendiary words.
