Adam Sandler returns in Happy Gilmore 2—Netflix drops trailer, cameos, and release date

Adam Sandler is dusting off his clubs and stepping back onto the fairway in Happy Gilmore 2, with Netflix officially announcing the long-awaited sequel will premiere on July 25.

While the streaming giant has kept plot details under wraps, the newly released trailer teases Happy Gilmore’s return to professional golf, where he faces off against PGA stars while battling moments of self-doubt.

Several original cast members are reprising their roles, including Julie Bowen, Christopher McDonald, and Ben Stiller. The film also welcomes newcomers, including music artist Bad Bunny, NFL star Travis Kelce, and Sandler’s daughters, Sadie and Sunny Sandler. Real-life golfing legends John Daly, Scottie Scheffler, Rory McIlroy, and Bryson DeChambeau are also set to make appearances.

Sandler first hinted at the sequel on The Tonight Show, revealing he and his team were committed to delivering a worthy follow-up to the 1996 cult classic.

"We worked hard on the script. We didn’t want to let anybody down," Sandler said. "So many of the golfers were nice enough to be a part of it."

NFL star Travis Kelce, who has been expanding his acting career, had previously expressed interest in joining the project. Sandler later confirmed Kelce’s role, praising his humor and charisma.

"He’s a very nice guy. You guys would love him in real life. What a big, handsome guy. Funny and cool as hell," Sandler said.

The film is directed by Kyle Newacheck (Murder Mystery) and co-written by Sandler and Tim Herlihy, who also penned the original Happy Gilmore. Dennis Dugan, director of the 1996 film, returns as an executive producer.

With the official trailer now out, anticipation is growing for Sandler’s return to one of his most beloved roles. Happy Gilmore 2 is set to tee off on Netflix this July.
