Traders stage sit-in at Indus Highway against dacoities in Shikarpur

Traders have staged sit-in at Khanpur Indus Highway after the rising kidnapping events of traders and vendors in Shikarpur on Wednesday, reported 24NewsHD TV Channel.

According to police, armed robbers set up a picket on Indus Highway in Khanpur Tehsil and looted passengers. Armed men also kidnap fruit and vegetable vendors at gunpoint. The dacoits snatched cash and mobile phones worth millions of rupees from vegetable and fruit vendor Noor Muhammad Ansari and his brother Bashir Ansari.

Long queues of vehicles formed due to the blockage of the Indus Highway. The highway connecting Sindh to Punjab was completely blocked.

The protestors blocked the Indus Highway against the incident, and the traffic was suspended. Due to the sit-in, long queues of vehicles were seen on the roads. Protesters raised strong slogans against the increasing unrest. The protestors said police has completely failed to protect the citizens and the area has become a no-go area, and robbers can rob or kidnap anyone. A week ago, several vegetable and fruit vendors were looted at the same place. The protesters demanded law and order should be restored and the citizens should be provided with the right to live.
