Injured murder suspect escapes from Mardan hospital; FIR registered against police officials

An injured suspect involved in a murder and attempted murder case escaped from a hospital in Mardan, raising serious concerns over alleged police negligence, officials confirmed on Thursday.

According to police sources, the accused had been shifted to Mardan Medical Complex for medical treatment when he managed to flee from custody.

Following the incident, a First Information Report (FIR) has been registered against the Station House Officer (SHO) of Saro Shah Police Station, Tajbar Shah, along with members of the police team responsible for guarding the suspect.

The FIR, lodged on the complaint of Sheikh Maltoon Police Station SHO Shafiq Ahmed, states that the escape occurred due to lapses in security arrangements. It further alleges that CCTV footage shows Constable Ahmed Ali assisting the accused in escaping from the hospital premises.

Police authorities have taken notice of the incident and initiated action against the officials involved. A departmental inquiry is currently underway, and officials said strict disciplinary measures will be taken against those found responsible.
