Government puts total ban on import of luxury items

The coalition government Thursday decided to completely ban the imports of all the luxury items, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Addressing a news conference in Islamabad, the Federal Minister for Information, Marriyum Aurangzeb announced the government has decided to put a complete ban on all imported cars. 

Marriyum said there will also be a ban on importing products of sanitary ware, frozen fish, carpet, tissue papers, makeup, chocolates, imported mobiles, crockery, decoration items, shoes, weapons and shampoos.

Marriyum said imports of fruits and dry fruits will also be not permissible, adding the bans on imports of unnecessary luxury bags and kitchen products.

Marriyum said by this move of the government, the local industries will grow and people will earn employment, adding bans on imports are being put on the basis of emergency.

Marriyum made it clear that the country is facing an emergency situation, adding the Pakistanis have to give sacrifices for economic freedom.

Marriyum Aurangzeb said for four years, there was the rule of imported government, ministers and spokespersons.

Marriyum said during the PML-N’s tenure, the percentage of country’s development was six per cent.

Marriyum said all the agreements which are planned have the signatures of Imran Khan’s government.

Marriyum said the priority of the coalition government is to minimize the dependence on imports.

Marriyum lashed out at the previous government and went on to say that in last four years, the country’s economy was devastated, adding the conspirators ask question from four-week government.

Marriyum said when the PML-N tenure was ended in 2018, the dollar was Rs115.

Marriyum flayed former premier Imran and said due to Imran Khan, the country’s loans reached Rs47000b from Rs25000b.

Marriyum said PTI has played its role to increase the rate of inflation from 2.3 per cent to 16 per cent.

Marriyum said the elections will be held by those, who wants to provide the masses with relief, adding no matter if PTI cries, the election will be held as per government’s decision.
