AJK ex-PM wants trial of perpetrators of May 9 violence under Army Act

Former Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) prime minister Raja Farooq Haider has said he completely supports action against those involved in incidents of violence on May 9 under the Army Act and Secret Services Act, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Friday.

In a video message, he said that it was his message to the judges that if they wanted to protect the interests of the country, they must refrain from being soft on miscreants. 

In the same breath, he said he wanted to say to Army Chief General Asim Munir and the armed forces that the nation stood by them. 

Former AJK prime minister also expressed the resolve to give India a befitting reply in case it cast an evil eye on Pakistan. “I and the people of AJK stand by armed forces of the country,” he added. 

Farooq went on to say that following incidents of violence on May 9, there was jubilation in India. “Let there be no doubt that there should be tough action against those who carried out attacks on military installations and public properties. These acts of violence are simply unforgivable,” he said, adding, “May 9 will be remembered as a ‘Black Day’. Never ever in the country’s entire history have we seen such harrowing incidents which we witnessed on that day.” 

He said former prime minister and PTI Chief Imran Khan was responsible for the events that took place on that day. “Imran sold Kashmir to India,” ex-AJK premier said, adding the PTI chairman victimized his political opponents when he was the prime minister in the name of accountability. “Truth of the matter is that Imran created divisions in the society,” he opined.
