Eight PBC members oppose change in Legal Practitioners and Bar Council Rules

Eight members of Pakistan Bar Council (PBC), belonging to the opposition, have raised objections to proposed changes in Rule 87C of Legal Practitioners and Bar Council Rules, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday.

In a letter to the council, the members have said that as per proposed amendment, a suggestion has been given to increase the number of members from five to 10 for the requisition of council’s meeting.

These members have opined that the purpose of the amendment is to prevent members of the opposition from the requisition of council’s meeting.

They have stated that the amendment to be done through circulation is based on mala fide intent.

The members have demanded that the Rules Committee should immediately take back the proposed amendment.
