Pakistan extends airspace closure for Indian flights until June 23

Pakistan has extended its restriction on the use of its airspace by Indian aircraft until June 23, according to a fresh Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) issued by the Pakistan Airports Authority.

The NOTAM states that, effective from May 19, the ban will continue to apply to all commercial aircraft registered in India, as well as Indian military aircraft.

In addition, the restriction covers aircraft leased by Indian airlines and any aircraft owned or operated by Indian individuals, broadening the scope of the existing prohibition.

The closure of Pakistan’s airspace for Indian aircraft was originally imposed last year and has since been extended multiple times through official notifications.

Aviation sources say the continued restriction is expected to impact flight routes and operational planning for Indian carriers, which must rely on longer alternate paths for westbound and international flights.
