TikToker Sana Yousaf’s murderer awarded death sentence

A court in Islamabad on Tuesday handed down death penalty to Umar Hayat in the murder case of TikToker Sana Yousaf besides awarding 10-year prison term to him under dacoity-related sections, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Sana Yousaf was a 17-year-old social media influencer and medical student who was tragically shot dead inside her Islamabad home on June 2, 2025.

The court also slapped Rs2 million in fine on Hayat.

On June 3, Sana’s murderer had been arrested from Jarranwala, while on June 13, eyewitnesses recognized him during an identification parade.

The government had appointed Raja Naveed Hussain Kiani as a special prosecutor in the case.

Over 50 hearings of the case were held, while the prosecution presented 27 witnesses, including the deceased’s mother and aunt.

It was on September 20 that Hayat was indicted in the case.

Trial remained suspended in light of the high court orders.

Earlier today, the verdict was reserved.

Sana’s mother says she is delighted

Speaking to the media, mother of the deceased TikToker Sana Yousaf said she was ecstatic that justice had been done in the case. “Our legal team toiled very hard so that the culprit does not get away with the crime he committed,” she said, adding it was her desire that Hayat be hanged in public.

Sana’s father Yousaf Hassan said that today’s verdict was quite significant for the entire society. “I am thankful to the entire media for standing by us and supporting us,” he said, adding that he was also grateful to the police, judges and his friends.

Umar Hayat was awarded capital punishment and fined Rs2 million under section 302 of the PPC, while overall, he was sentenced to 21 years in prison and fined Rs2.5 million.

Hayat was handed 10-year prison term and fined Rs200,000 under section 449 dealing with house trespass, while he was sentenced to 10 years in prison and fined Rs200,000 under section 392 related to robbery.

Under section 411 related to recovery, he was handed one-year prison term and fined Rs100,000.
