Heavy fog forces closure of M-1 Motorway from Peshawar to Rashakai
In the interest of public safety, the Motorway Police on Wednesday closed a key section of the M-1 due to dense fog and dangerously low visibility.
According to a spokesperson for the Motorway Police, the stretch of Motorway M-1 from Peshawar Toll Plaza to Rashakai has been temporarily closed for all traffic. Officials say visibility in several areas has dropped to near zero, making driving conditions extremely hazardous.
“The purpose of closing the motorway is to prevent accidents and protect the lives and property of motorway users,” the spokesperson said, adding that the closure will remain in effect until weather conditions improve.
Motorway Police has issued important guidelines for drivers during foggy conditions:
1. Avoid unnecessary travel until visibility improves.
2. Use fog lights and ensure headlights are functioning properly.
3. Reduce speed significantly and maintain extra distance from the vehicle ahead.
4. Check weather and road updates before starting your journey.
