Larger bench to hear inter-court appeals in judges’ transfer case on November 24
The Federal Constitutional Court has scheduled the hearing of inter-court appeals in the judges’ transfer case for November 24, reported 24NewsHD TV channel Wednesday.
A six-member larger bench headed by Chief Justice Aminuddin Khan will take up the appeals. However, Justice Amir Farooq will not be part of the bench, as he had previously given his opinion on the judges’ request during his tenure as Chief Justice of the High Court, sources added.
The appeals have been filed by Islamabad High Court judges as well as bar associations, challenging the Supreme Court’s earlier ruling that upheld the transfer and seniority of judges in the Islamabad High Court.
A five-member constitutional bench had previously declared the transfers and seniority placements lawful, prompting the current round of appeals now set for review by the larger bench.
