Lahore, with AQI 290, emerges as world’s most polluted city

Lahore was in the grip of extreme pollution on Sunday as the air quality index (AQI) in the city reached 290, making it the most polluted city in the world, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

The AQI recorded in different localities of the city is as under:

The AQI at Pakistan Engineering Council was recorded at 762, while it was 531 at Syed Maratab Ali Road, 485 in Gulberg-III, and 459 at Shadman Market.

The Met Office, on the other hand, said that the weather in the city would remain dry during the next 24 hours.

The maximum temperature in the city would go up to 32 degrees Celsius while it would remain 20 degrees Celsius on the minimum side.

The level of humidity in the morning was recorded at 83 per cent.

Hot, dry weather forecast for Karachi

The Met Office said on Sunday that heat would increase in Karachi during the next 24 hours as the maximum temperature would rise by one to two degrees to reach 38 degrees Celsius.

The minimum temperature was recorded at 22 degrees Celsius, while breeze was blowing in the city from the east at a speed of eight kilometers per hour.

The moisture level in the city stood at 80 per cent.

On the other hand, the port city, with AQI 179, emerged as the third most polluted city in the world.

Dry weather forecast for Islamabad

The Met Office said that the weather would remain dry in Islamabad during the next 24 hours.

It said that the maximum temperature in the city would touch 32 degrees Celsius mark, while breeze would blow at a speed of nine kilometers per hour.

The moisture level in the air in the morning stood at 65 per cent.
