Maryam congratulates as Pakistan enters new space era

Pakistan has marked a historic milestone in its space journey with the successful launch of its first hyperspectral satellite, HS-1, from China — a major leap forward in scientific and technological self-reliance.

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif congratulated Pakistani scientists and the technical team for achieving this landmark, calling it “a new chapter in Pakistan’s space program.”

“The launch of the hyperspectral satellite represents significant progress in Pakistan’s space technology and an important step toward self-reliance,” said Maryam Nawaz.

She noted that the advanced HS-1 satellite is capable of capturing highly accurate images in hundreds of spectral bands, enabling detailed analysis of land, vegetation, water bodies, and urban infrastructure.

According to the Chief Minister, the new satellite will revolutionize agricultural planning, environmental monitoring, and resource management by making it possible to closely track crop health, soil and water quality, and pollution levels.

Maryam Nawaz added that the hyperspectral satellite will also play a vital role in monitoring deforestation, glacier melting, and geographical risks linked to CPEC projects paving the way for smarter, data-driven decision-making in Pakistan’s development strategy.
