As a former PML-N lawmaker joined the PML-Q on Saturday, senior politician Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi said the public representatives with a passion for serving the people were being prepared for the local government elections, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
He expressed these views at a meeting held at his Lahore residence where Rai Usman Khan Kharal announced his decision to join the PML-Q along with his supporters. Senator Kamil Ali Agha – a close associate of the Chaudhry brothers –was also present on the occasion.
Kharal is a well-known political and social personality from Jaranwala – a tehsil in Faisalabad district – who formerly served as a Punjab Assembly member after being elected on the PML-N ticket.
Speaking on the occasion, he said the development work carried out during the tenure of Pervaiz Elahi as chief minister had no parallel in history, as he cited the Rescue 1122 service as well as many projects in agriculture, health and education sectors.
Pir Shoaib Shahnawaz, Rai Muhammad Farooq, Malik Shahid Awan, Nasir Ali Jappa, Asif Chattha and Malik Mubashir Khokhar were among those attending the meeting.
Separately, Pervaiz Elahi nominated Liaquat Abbas Bhatti for Pindi Bhattian tehsil of Hafizabad, giving him a green light to make preparations for the local government polls while keeping the SOPs formulated for the coronavirus pandemic in mind.
The development came as former MNA Liaquat Ali Bhatti called on the senior PML-Q leader who said they had always served the people whenever given an opportunity.
He noted that the public representatives having a hunger for serving the people were being readied for the local government polls.
