Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Political Communication Shahbaz Gill on Saturday warned that strict action would be taken against those airing the address of “convicted proclaimed offender” Nawaz Sharif to the All Parties Conference (APC).

In a tweet about the gathering of opposition parties scheduled for Sunday, Gill said the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) and other legal options would be used if his speech was shown on TV.

“How it is possible that a convicted proclaimed offender indulges in political activities and gives sermons,” he opined.

The Sharif family could only talk lies and even used to lie in the case illness, said the special assistant.

But this did not deter Maryam Nawaz – the PML-N vice-president – around two hours after Gill’s tweets from telling her followers that they are working on other substitutes.

Responding to a tweep who suggested that the party should use social media platforms like Twitter, Facebook and YouTube for live streaming Nawaz Sharif’s speech from London, she said they were already doing so.

Gill issued the warning as the APC hosted by the PPP would be held in Islamabad. In this connection, the PML-N supremo managed to convince JUI-F chief Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman to attend the event after addressing his reservations.

Meanwhile, 24NewsHD TV channel on Saturday reported that Maryam would be among those attending the APC.

Sources say Maryam would leave Lahore in the afternoon and spend the night in Murree. On Monday morning, she would reach the opposition leader’s residence in the Minister’s enclave.

They added that Maryam was attending the event on the special directives of Nawaz, as 24NewsHD also reported that a 13-member PML-N delegation would participate in the APC.

Similarly, it is said that former president Asif Ali Zardari may also address the gathering via video link.

The gathering is expected to formulate the future course of action amid the current situation and the misunderstandings among the main and smaller political parties.

The two-point agenda means the opposition leaders would discuss the PTI government’s two-year performance and formulate the line of action for the future.
