Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Acting Governor Mushtaq Ghani on Monday sent the vice chancellor of the Gomal University on forced leave for 90 days.
According to the 24News HD TV channel, the acting governor sent VC Dr Iftikhar on forced leave illegally at the behest of former federal minister Ali Amin Gandapur.
The sources said that the acting governor has appointed Professor Masroor as the Acting Vice Chancellor of the Gomal University. Prof Masroor has also a charge of the VC of Agriculture University.
The sources said that the Higher Education Department (HED) also issued a notification in this regard.
It is worth mentioning that last year, Dr Iftikhar was sent on forced leave for 180 days over the same dispute.
However, later Peshawar High Court accepted his writ petition and declared the distribution of assets of Gomal University against the law and Dr Iftikhar Ahmed again took charge as VC.
Pertinent to mention here that a few days ago, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader and former minister Ali Amin Gandapur threatened to expel Dr Iftikhar by force.
