Punjab govt increases water tariff for Lahore by 25pc
Govt also approves 10pc increase in water rates annually

The Punjab government has approved a 25 per cent increase in water tariff for the provincial capital city, Lahore, reported 24NewsHD TV Channel.
A meeting of the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) governing body was held under the chairmanship of Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi here on Monday.
The governing body has unanimously approved a twenty-five per cent increase in water bills, which will be applied to domestic and commercial consumers.
The governing body has also approved Water and Sanitation Agency’s (WASA) demand to increase water rates by 10 per cent annually.
The report said that WASA divides the houses into different categories for water rates.
The water bill of a 3-marla house is hiked from Rs287 to Rs358, a 5-marla house from Rs375 to Rs468, and a 7-marla from Rs464 to Rs580. Likewise, the bill of a 10-marla house has been increased from Rs553 to Rs691 and 15-marla from Rs641 to Rs802.
