Defence Minister rules out any secret terms in Pak-Saudi defence pact

Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif has declared that there were no secret terms of the landmark defence agreement signed with Saudi Arabia, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Friday.

In an interview with Al Jazeera TV channel, Khawaja Asif said that under the agreement Pakistan's defence capabilities will also be helpful to Saudi Arabia in any possible situation.

After the agreement, other Gulf countries will probably also want to sign such an agreement, he said and added “For their security, many countries will look to a sovereign country that has the ability and capability to protect them instead of depending on another country miles away.”

The defence minister said “If any other country wants, they can also consider including them in this agreement.”

Responding to a question, he said “Last time nuclear weapon was used was on Hiroshima and fortunately the world is now safe from the nuclear wars and I hope nothing such would happen again.”
