PIA incurs huge loss due to poor planning and inefficiency

Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) suffered huge financial loss over the last eight months due to poor planning and inefficiency, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Friday.

In this connection, the Additional Director of Airworthiness writes a letter to Pakistan International Airlines and Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (PCCA).

A copy of the letter has already been obtained by 24News TV channel. In the letter, the Civil Aviation Authority expressed serious concerns over the base maintenance of Pakistan International Airlines.

In the letter, CAA raised many questions on poor planning and monitoring during the last eight months. 

A serious violation of the Cabin Finishing Shop of Level-A was detected. Chief Engineer Base Maintenance miserably failed to discharge his responsibilities.

The repair and maintenance of the Landing Gears Actuator of the A-320 aircraft by an unauthorized person also came to light.

The CAA also expressed serious concerns over the usage of unverified jacks for the maintenance of B-777 aircraft.

The usage of an unapproved jack was also highlighted. PIA also issued a strict warning to PIA in connection with and directed it to take immediate measures for comprehensive planning and strict monitoring.
