The Federal Shariat Court (FSC) on Wednesday declared the report of the Ministry of Human Rights about the jobs given to the transgender persons unsatisfactory, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

A two-member FSC bench, headed by acting Chief Justice Syed Muhammad Anwar, heard the case related to the rights of the transgender persons.

The Ministry of Human Rights submitted a report on the jobs given to the transgender persons, adding that data about those jobs could be received from 36 ministries.

“No ministry implemented the job quota,” said the Ministry of Human Rights in its report.

The court, however, declared the report unsatisfactory and asked the Ministry of Human Rights to submit a detailed report before the next hearing.

The Ministry of Human Rights had submitted a report on the implementation of job quota by Sindh and Punjab.

“No jobs were given under Transgender Act 2018 in Sindh,” the report said.

“The report of Punjab province is incomplete as the data of all districts was not given,” it added.

Acting Chief Justice Syed Muhammad Anwar pointed out that the law was meant to protect the rights of transgender persons. “The law had been made in 2018. Why was it not implemented?” he questioned.

“After this law was passed, as many as 28,000 people approached Nadra,” Senator Mushtaq Ahmad Khan told the court.

“During five years, huge funds were allocated for the welfare of the transgender persons,” he added.

“The court should ask the government to submit a report on where the funds were spent,” he demanded.

The court asked the Ministry of Human Rights to respond in writing to the points raised by Senator Mushtaq.

The court then adjourned the hearing of the case till November 10.
