Mobile phone, internet services to be suspended in Punjab if talks with Saad fails

The government will suspend mobile phone and internet services across Punjab if talks with banned outfit chief Saad Rizvi fails, sources said on Monday.
The step will be taken as part of the government’s strategy to avert untoward incidents.
A delegation of religious leaders including Quran Board Chairman Sahibzada Hamid Raza, Sarwat Ejaz Qadri, Mian Jalil Sharqpuri, Sahibzada Abul Khair Zabir, called upon Saad Rizvi in a bid to broker a peace deal.
Earlier, Sahibzada Hamid Raza said the talks with TLP chief Hafiz Saad Rizvi remained positive and a breakthrough will come soon.
The meeting was not on behalf of the government, he clarified adding that the scholars wanted to keep law and order maintained.
He said Saad Rizvi asked his followers to be peaceful and the next phase of talks will be held soon.
The Quran Board chairman expressed hope the government will accept their genuine demands.
