The Federal Ministry of Water Resources got no minister for the last five months as all water resources projects in the country are facing difficulties and construction work has come to a standstill due to lack of decision making at the ministry level, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday.
Various important decision-making development projects are in a state of limbo including policy work of water disputes with India and amid lack of funds permanent Indus Water Commissioner has not yet been appointed as incumbent Indus Water Commissioner Mir Ali Shah has been working on a temporary basis.
It may be mentioned here that Pakistan raised objections to controversial Indian dams in Occupied Kashmir. The appointment of a minister is required to file a case with the World Bank and the Arbitration Tribunal.
The non-appointment of the minister in Water Resources Ministry has also halted the construction of flood prevention schemes.
The construction of two major dams in the country is facing difficulties at the policy level as due to the absence of a minister the official affairs are almost grind to a halt.
The TV channel reported that all administrative matters relating to the ministry, policy and decision-making issues have also been stalled.
The construction of Mohmand and Bhasha dams is facing administrative control issues.
