Alarm bells sounded as 1,180 cancer cases surface in Sindh coastal areas

The cancer has become dangerously prevalent in Sindh wherein 1,180 new cases have been reported in March 2022, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Wednesday.
The Sindh Health Department has shared the figures that the coastal areas of Sindh— Thatta, Sajjawal and Badin—are being affected the most by the use of drugs and alcohol.
Sindh Health Director General wrote a letter to IG Sindh and asked for emergency measures to control the prevailing situation of new cancer cases.
It has been stressed that use of gutka has now been on the rise and if adequate measures on an emergency basis would not be taken then cancer would spread across the province.
Sindh director general Health said that all cases that are being reported to the district focal person diligence are of cancer cases.
