Mother seeks judicial probe into alleged fake encounter killing of two sons in Punjab

A woman has approached the Supreme Court, alleging that her two sons were killed in a staged police encounter in Punjab, and has requested the formation of a judicial commission to investigate the incident.

In a letter addressed to the Chief Justice of Pakistan, the mother claimed that officials of Sadar Alipur police station arrested her sons on April 8 in front of the applicant without registering any case. She alleged that the police covered their faces with cloth at the time of arrest and took them into custody unlawfully.

According to the contents of the letter, when she inquired about the reason for the arrest, police officials told her to visit Rahim Yar Khan the following morning for details. However, she said she later learned through social media that her sons had been killed in an alleged police encounter by Sadar Khanpur police.

“My whole world has been shattered by the murder of my sons,” the mother stated in the letter, claiming that the encounter was fake and that the victims were in illegal custody prior to their killing.

She further alleged that fictitious cases were registered overnight to justify the police action and that a fabricated narrative was prepared to cover up the incident.

The petitioner maintained that despite submitting applications to the District Police Officer and other senior officials, no action was taken.

Calling for justice, she urged the Supreme Court to constitute a judicial commission to determine the facts of the case and ensure accountability for those responsible.
