Dollar up by 11 paisas as rupee performs well against pound and euro

The US dollar again witnessed a surge against the rupee as it closed the session at Rs168.37 in inter-bank exchange rate after gaining 11 paisas on Thursday, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Similarly, the world’s dominant currency gained 10 paisas in the open market and was traded for Rs168.37.
However, it wasn’t a good day for the euro and the pound sterling with the value of two currencies slashed significantly against the rupee.
In inter-bank trading, the euro was down by Rs2.03 and available for Rs198.95 while the pound shed Rs3.03 with its exchange rate reduced to Rs220.09.
On the other hand, the euro was down by 50 paisas and the pound by Rs1.50 in open market as their respective exchange rates ended at Rs199.50 and Rs222.50.
This fluctuation in the currency market came after the dollar was up by seven paisas and closed Wednesday at Rs168.26 in the inter-bank rate.
Similarly, the euro surged to after gaining 93 paisas while the pound sterling was available for Rs223.12 with a gain of Rs1.91. It means the pound shattered all the previous records against the local currency.
On the other hand, the value of both dollar and euro remained unchanged in open market as these were traded for Rs168.50 and Rs200.50 respectively. However, the pound was bullish in open market as well where it was up by Rs2 and traded for Rs224.
Before the three-day-long break due to Independence Day combined with the weekend, the dollar was available for Rs167.93 in inter-bank rate and for Rs168.40 in open market.
The euro, on the other hand, was traded at Rs198.67 in inter-bank trading and Rs199 in open market with the corresponding values of the pound recorded at Rs219.68 and 221 respectively.
