The Pakistan Army has paid a tribute to Pilot Officer Rashid Minhas as the martyrdom of young Pakistan Air Force legend is being commemorated across the county on August 20.

 “Today we remember supreme sacrifice of Pilot Officer Rashid Minhas Shaheed (Nishan-e -Haider),” ISPR tweeted, adding that he lived up to great traditions of the PAF who sacrificed life serving the motherland.

Born on 17 February 1951, Rashid Minhas was commissioned as a pilot in Pakistan Air Force in 1971. On August 20, 1971, he sacrificed his life while fending off an Indian bid to hijack a PAF plane and becomes the youngest recipient of Nishan-e-Haider.
