A senior bureaucrat has allegedly thwarted Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar’s desperate attempt to lure ex-principal secretary Raheel Ahmed Siddiqui back, 24news channel reported on Wednesday.

Siddiqui has reportedly turned up against CM Buzdar in liquor licence reference by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).

According to sources, the chief minister got a summary prepared to post former principal secretary to the Danish School as principal immediately after the NAB circular.

The sources added the summary was to be presented to a cabinet standing committee to give approval to Siddiqui’s appointment under MP-1 package for six months.

However, a senior bureaucrat blocked the summary before it reached the cabinet body.

Earlier, Excise Department ex-DG Akram Ashraf Gondal filed a plea to become approver against CM Buzdar after recording his statement before the bureau.

He told the investigators that he informed the CM Office that the matter was against the law before the approval on Siddiqui’s insistence.
