660 prohibited fishing nets burnt in Karachi to protect marine life

In a big action against illegal fishing in Hawke's Bay in Karachi, the Fisheries Department of the Government of Sindh on Thursday set alight 660 prohibited nets worth Rs10 million, reported 24NewsHD TV channel. 

Provincial Minister for Fisheries Muhammad Ali Malkani, who was the chief guest on the occasion, said that these nets posed a threat to marine life.

Speaking on the occasion, member of the Sindh Assembly Asif Khan said that action against prohibited nets was need of the hour.

He added that fishermen would have to preserve sea resources for the coming generations.
