Govt raises diesel petroleum levy by Rs1.72 to Rs80 per litre

The federal government has increased the petroleum levy on high-speed diesel by Rs1.72 per litre, taking it to Rs80 per litre.

The increase has been made under commitments agreed with the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

The petroleum levy on petrol has been maintained at Rs80 per litre.

In addition to the petroleum levy, a climate support levy of Rs5 per litre continues to be imposed separately on both petrol and high-speed diesel.

Following the latest adjustment, the petroleum levy on both petrol and high-speed diesel now stands at Rs80 per litre.
