Govt submits to NA report on cybercrime-related complaints received between 2024-26

The Ministry of Interior on Thursday submitted to the National Assembly (NA) details of complaints received and arrests made in connection with crimes of different nature, including harassment, on social media platforms between 2024-26, reported 24NewsHD TV channel. 

As per the data, 161, 828 complaints were received in 2024, out of which 108, 989 were confirmed.

As many as 24,012 inquiries were launched during the year under review while 1,667 cases were registered; 2,157 suspects were arrested, punishments were given in 60 cases and Rs652.6 million were recovered.

Similarly, out of 157, 465 complaints received during 2025, 141, 681 were verified, while 30, 214 inquiries were launched; 2,356 cases were registered; 2,916 suspects were apprehended; punishments were given in 39 cases, and Rs554.5 million were recovered.

The report informed that during the current year, 2026, so far 72,400 complaints had been received, out of which 38,100 had been verified; 12, 473 inquiries were initiated, while 827 cases were registered. 

Similarly, 689 suspects were taken into custody, punishments were given in 10 cases while Rs1418.48 million were recovered.
