Meeting okays 5-minute stopover at major railway stations

Federal Minister of Railways Khawaja Saad Rafiq chaired a meeting to bring reforms to the department, 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Tuesday.
The meeting approved a five-minute stopover at major railway stations so that the passengers could get adequate time to get in and get off. The decision will be enforced from December 22
The meeting made a decision to develop small platforms to 1410 feet while the placement of baggage boxes and the addition of extra coaches to the Lahore-Rawalpindi railcar on weekends due to the rush of passengers.
The federal government will provide Rs14 billion in assistance to the department for the repair and maintenance of railway infrastructure in Balochistan. He Railway Headquarters asked to submit an infrastructure maintenance plan at the earliest.
The moot made the decision to take stern action against encroachment upon the Karachi Division and the appointment of a new DS Karachi was also okayed. All legal means will be used for anti-encroachment operations
