Fazl says Shehbaz gave positive response to proposals on madrassah registration bill
Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) President Maulana Fazlur Rehman on Friday held a meeting with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif at the Prime Minister’s House.
Among those present at the meeting were Maulana Ghafoor Haideri, Kamran Murtaza, Raja Pervez Ashraf, Qamar Zaman Kaira, National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq, Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, Law Minister Azam Nazir Tarar, Information Minister Attaullah Tarrar, Adviser to the Prime Minister Rana Sanaullah Khan and Attorney General Mansoor Usman. At the meeting, the prime minister directed the Law Ministry to take steps in line with the law to sort out issues related to the Madrassah Registration Bill.
Talking to the media after the meeting, Fazl said the prime minister invited him to a meeting on the issue of the Madrassah Registration Bill and he reiterated his stance on the issue. He said he made it clear that the bill has become an act after approval from both houses of the parliament. He said that President’s constitutional objection has been addressed, but his second objection does not have any legal standing. He said that his stance was received with extreme positivity and the prime minister directed the Law Ministry to take practical measures to resolve the issue. He said he was hopeful that the practical measures taken to sort out this issue would match their demands.
